Preparing your fiber prior to sending.

Please remove as much vegetable matter as possible, we have found that using a shop vac on your animals right before shearing really helps cut down on the amount of matter you have to pick out. The Less hay and vegetation in your fiber the quicker it can be processed meaning the quicker you will get it back and the less fiber you will loose in the dehairer, please understand that you will loose up to 30% but the fiber you will get back will be clean and consistent. If your fiber is excessively dirty or too much vegetation, it will have to be reskirted, we will call you and give you the choice of us mailing it back at your expense or us skirting, we charge $25.00 an hour to skirt.

It is very important to check your fiber for similar length when skirting, if you have fiber that is much shorter than others, usually due to shearing, please remove the shorter fiber, as it will cause nebs or wads of fiber in your finished yarn.

Pre washing is not necessary as we wash all fiber coming in, it is just so much easier on our equipment to wash it here with the detergent that is made for your fiber and works well with our machines, you will see it makes a better end product.

For suri owners: Our machines will only process fiber that is between 2 and 6 inches in length. Please cut your fiber if it is longer than this. There is an extra charge if we have to cut your fiber for you of $25.00 an hour. An average blanket takes about 3 hours to hand cut.
